Growing & Production

We grow 100% Caturra (Arabica) Coffee organically at an altitude of 2200 – 2400 feet above sea level 70 km north of the capital Kathmandu at the foot of the Ganesh Himal mountain range. We are situated on the banks of the snow-fed Trisuli River irrigating our fields and washing our parchment.

It is to be noted that above this altitude due to the proximity to the high Himalayan range , heavy frost in winter would adversely effect the coffee trees.

This historical district is known as Nuwakot from where the ruling Dynasty was established. As this area is renowned for cattle, buffalo and other livestock projects we have the advantage of availing of sufficient organic fertilizers for multiple applications. We are assisting and encouraging the small farmer in this way.

At this latitude this is a very unusual frost-free valley in the northern belt of Nepal.

The road to our site now extends to the Tibet border in the north.

We have presently around 70 hectares planted out and another 30 hectares are under preparation for year 2010 extension planting. Our green beans are sun-dried and exported in 50 kg net handstitched new jute bags with screen print.

We are presently producing around 150,000 kgs of fine green beans.

Our present buyers are from among the foremost International Specialty green bean importers.

Our picking season starts at end of November & we are ready for export by February/March. We are presently exporting on airfreight basis, i.e. ex Kathmandu International Airport but can also arrange sea freight via Calcutta Port in India (since we are a land-locked country).

Our fine product is branded JALPA GOLD (for regional sales) & MOUNT EVEREST SUPREME (for export).
